"Sports ideally teach discipline and commitment. They challenge you and build character for everything you do in life" – Howie Long, football player
“Character education is the intentional, proactive effort to instill in students important core, ethical values. It fosters ethical, responsible, and caring young people by modeling and teaching good character through emphasis on universal values that we all share. Character Education provides long-term solutions that address moral, ethical, and academic issues that are of growing concern about our society.”
Character Education Partnership
The Skills Center brings character development into the game of basketball! We focus on teaching players a new basketball skill in connection with a new character development trait weekly, helping players become successful both on and off the court. A player who exhibits superior character and demonstrates the core character competencies from each team is recognized during game day and receives a Character Award certificate.
We promote well-rounded student athletes, students being our first priority.
At The Skills Center, one of our goals is to encourage and support academic achievement by enhancing students’ skills in core subject areas like English, Math, History and Science. Therefore, we offer all league and travel team players access to our Academic Enrichment Service AT NO COST.
Certified teachers and USF students provide these services.
